Eddie Federwisch, Assistant Professor and Director of Equine Studies

Before opening Silver Lake Farm in Kingsport, TN, Eddie rode for Hunter Hill Farm in Atlanta, GA. He joined the faculty of Virginia Intermont College in 1994, and became Equine Studies program director in 1995. Since that time, Eddie has worked to make the Equine program well-rounded and career-centered rather than competition-based. That is not to say that competition has suffered; in fact, for the last two years, Intermont's Intercollegiate Riding Team has been nationally ranked. Eddie is an AHSA recorded Hunter and Hunter Seat Equitation judge.

Lisa Moosmueller, Instructor of Equine Studies

A native of Long Island, N.Y., Lisa has been riding since she was five

eventually focused primarily on jumpers. Later, Lisa exercised racehorses at several farms on Long Island and at Belmont racetrack while continuing to compete in jumpers. Lisa then attended Virginia Intermont, where she competed on the IHSA team and continued to work with racehorses back home during the summers. She also gave lessons and worked as a show groom for River Circle Farm, which developed horses for Olympians Joe Fargis and Conrad Homfeld's Sandron Farm on Long Island. Lisa graduated with an equine
studies degree from VI, and went on to work for a dressage barn, also
trained with Karen and David O'Connor and Jimmy Wofford. Since returning to VI as an instructor, Lisa has completed the development of the dressage and combined training programs at the college, and was instrumental in developing the Equine-Assisted Growth and Development minor. Lisa is an ARIA Level III certified instructor in hunt seat and dressage, a Level I EAGAD instructor, vice president of the IDA and Intermont's dressage and eventing coach.
