VI’s full-time professors have earned Ph.D.'s and are accomplished scholars and published writers. English faculty members offer an individualized learning environment not available at most colleges and universities. Besides attending traditional classes, students attend plays or poetry readings at Java J’s (a local coffee shop) enjoy sunny afternoon class discussions on grassy knolls, travel to places of literary interest or visit the homes of professors to eat pizza and watch a play by Shakespeare.
