The physical education major offers
students the option of majoring in physical education, health and
physical education with preK-12 teacher licensure or
a concentration in sport medicine or pre-physical therapy. The
physical education curriculum is a B.S. degree which historically
prepares students for careers as recreation directors, managers
of fitness centers and personal trainers. Students may choose
the sports medicine concentration which has enabled many
Virginia Intermont graduates
to work as athletic trainers and activity therapists. Teacher
licensure students have field work in the local schools which
exposes them to real-world teaching environments and allows them
to apply the skills they have learned in class.
