Frequently Asked
Questions
How will a minor in environmental management
benefit me?
An environmental management minor can be useful to students planning
careers in any area concerned with environmental processes and
problems. The minor also prepares students for study at the graduate
level in such concentrations as:
- ecology
- resource management and environmenatl policy
- aribusiness management
- urban and regional planning
What are the classes like?
The classes are small and student-driven, with an emphasis on
case studies and real world examples. Students are expected to
include an internship as part of the seminar courses.
How many classes are required to complete the
minor?
The minor in environmental management consists of 24 credits.
At least 18 of the 24 credits for the minor will be outside the
student's major department; 19 of the hours will be at the 300
level or higher.
Are there special courses I should take if I
am interested in this minor?
Students declaring the environmental management minor are
encouraged to complete the B.S. core curriculum rather than the
B.A. core curriculum. They are further encouraged to take general
chemistry 101 and 102 to fulfill the natural science requirement.
If this is done, only one additional course will be required as
a prerequisite for the minor (biology 100). They should also take
the economics option rather than the political science option.
