Harolyn Gaudette, Professor of Dance, Coordinator
of the Dance Department and Artistic Director of Company
Ms. Gaudette joined the faculty at Virginia Intermont College in
1987. She teaches studio classes in ballet, modern/contemporary
dance, jazz and floor barre. She has taught lecture classes in both
Dance History I and II, elements of Teaching, Dance Seminars, Composition
I and II and Dance Performance and Dance Production.
Ms. Gaudette has produced, directed and choreographed more than
30 major dance presentations at Virginia Intermont College. Her
choreography reflects her intense and diverse training in a variety
of dance techniques and styles. Musical sources have included Vivaldi,
Bach, Mozart, Corelli, B.B. King, Sinatra, Piazolla, Stravinsky,
Beethoven, Gospel, Celtic, Brent Lewis, Primitive, New Age, Strauss,
Tchaikovsky and Ethnic/Folk. Ms. Gaudette has also held the position
of rehearsal director for the many guest choreographers who have
visited VI.
Ms. Gaudette has had the privilege of performing and studying with
Eugene Loring, a founding dancer and choreographer for Ballet Caravan,
American Ballet Theatre, choreographer for the Hollywood film industry
and founder and chair of the dance department at the University
of California, Irvine.
Ms. Gaudette received her BA in dance and M.F.A. in dance from the
professional fine arts program at the University of California,
Irvine. Post-graduate studies included additional training in Los
Angeles, New York City, U.S. International University in England
and at the University of Hawaii.
She was a recipient of the Leon Goodman fellowship at the University
of California, Irvin, served as a graduate faculty member for the
dance majors studio technique classes and team taught "Music
for Dancer's" with Eugene Loring. She received scholarships
to study with the Joffrey Ballet Companies and the Merce Cunningham
Company at the University of California, Berkeley. Ms. Gaudette
was honored by the Jewish War Veterans of the United States for
outstanding entertainment service.
Ms. Gaudette previously served six years as a faculty member at
numerous colleges and universities throughout the United States
including the University of Wisconsin, University of California
at Santa Barbara, Mercyhurst College and Northern Illinois University.
Ms. Gaudette has freelanced as a dancer/choreographer/teacher on
both the west and east coasts in classical and contemporary dance
mediums. She has been a member of the International Association
of Dance Medicine and Sciences, The American College Dance Association
and Vail's International Teacher's Conference Studies.
Her long-term training in New York City included studies with major
artists and master teachers of the New York City Ballet, the American
Ballet Theatre and with Bertrum Ross. In addition, she trained at
the Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance, Alvin Ailey American
Dance Center, Paul Taylor Center, Limon Center, Luigi Jazz Dance
Center, Steps and the Broadway Dance Center. Additional training
highlights were her ethnic studies with Teodoro Morca in Los Angeles
and La Meri at Cape Cod and with Ted Shawn at Jacob's Pillow in
the Berkshires of Massachusetts.

BA and B.F.A. dance programs. Professional guest residencies enrich
your learning experiences and understanding of dance.
2000-2001 Dance Residencies
Alberto del Saz rehearsal director and principal dancer
with the famous Nikolais-Louis Companies. Mr. del Saz was trained
as a professional skater and toured internationally. He had a professional
career in dance with the Nikolais-Louis Company of NYC. Mr. Del
Sanz stages Nikolais-Louis works and guest teaches internationally.
William Lark studied at the Royal Winnepeg School
of Canada. He received his early ballet training in California.
He was a member of the Joffrey Company. He served six years in Vietnam
before resurrecting his dance career with distinction. He was 10
years (three of principal status) with the Royal Winnepeg Ballet
and 10 years with Geneva Ballet of Switzerland. He has eight years
experience as ballet master and choreographer with National Institute
of the Arts in Taipei, Taiwan.
Anna Baker-Van Cura has performed with American Ballet
Theatre of New York, National Ballet of Washington, D.C., Dayton
Ballet, Chicago Ballet and Lyric Opera. She danced as a ballerina
and principal soloist with Ruth Pages International Ballet
and created several roles in Ms. Pages ballets. Mrs. Van Cura
was on the faculty of the Ruth Page Foundation, the school of Hubbard
St. Dancers and the Akron Fine and Performing Arts Center, Ohio.
The Van Curas were on the dance faculty at the University of Illinois
at Champaign Urbana, Rockford College, Chicago Conservatory of Music,
New School of Performing Arts and the Chicago Dance Center. They
directed the Dance Division of the National Academy of the Arts.
They have been members of the National Association of the Regional
Ballet.
Rebecca Hutchins graduated from North Carolina School
of the Arts with a B.F.A. in Dance. Ms. Hutchins has taught at Elon
College in North Carolina, North Carolina University of Greensboro
in North Carolina, Duke University in Durham, North Carolina and
at the summer arts program at North Carolina School of the Arts.
She has performed with Frank Holder Dance Company, for Clay Taliaferro
and has performed in Missa Brevis with the Jose Limon
Company in Durham and Mexico City.
Kevin Veiga former dancer with Danny Sloan Dance Company
of Boston, the Dallas Black Dance Theatre of Texas, the Metropolitan
Ballet of Wichita and the Total Dance Theatre of Atlanta. Mr. Veiga
is an educator and dance director at the Dantona Beach Community
College of Florida and artistic director of the D.B.C.C. Dance Ensemble.
He trained at major dance centers in New York City. He holds a B.F.A.
in dance from City College in New York and a M.F.A. in dance from
Florida State University.
Randy Allen - artistic director of Impulse Dance Theatre
and Director of Dance at Louisiana School for Math, Science and
the Arts. Mr. Allen's professional credits include performing with
Jean-Marc Matos and Company of France, touring France, Italy and
Spain. In New York he toured with June Finch and Dancers, Meg Harper
and Company and the Gamso dance Company. He also performed with
the Memphis Ballet Company and the Southwest Ballet of Houston.
Off the concert stage, Mr. Allen has also performed on video and
television and he has taught in France and throughout the United
States. He holds a B.F.A. and a M.F.A. from Florida State University.
Chung-Fu Chang - guest choreographer. Mr. Change is a native
of Taiwan. He danced professionally with the Cloud Gate Dance Theatre.
In the United States, he was a guest artist with the Nebraska Repertory
Theatre, Dance Brazil and the National Ballet Company and a guest
dancer with Jacob's Pillow Choreography Workshop. Mr. Chang received
his B.F.A. in dance from the Boston Conservatory and his M.F.A in
dance at the University of California, Irvine. He studies choreography
under Donald McKayle and David Allan. He taught as a visiting assistant
professor for dance at the University of Florida and currently is
the rehearsal director of Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company in New York
City.
